A look at a beautiful old article about Niquille
In 1992, journalist Pierre Gremaud, with his subtile and delicate pen, made in La Gruyère a touching portrait of Armand Niquille who was then celebrating his 80th birthday.
That year, the Musée d'art et d'histoire of Fribourg devoted an important retrospective exhibition to the artist, at the same time as the book "Le Veilleur de solitude, fragments et état de poésie" was published, in which Niquille presented his thoughts, beliefs and reveries. This poetic work, unfortunately out of print, can be borrowed from the Cantonal and University Library of Fribourg (BCU).
The image opposite shows Armand Niquille and Jean-Robert Gisler, current President of the Armand Niquille Foundation, working on the book.
