Tribute to Emmanuel Schmutz
The Armand Niquille Foundation wishes to pay tribute to its recently deceased member, Emmanuel Schmutz, who formerly held the position of assistant director and manager of audio-visual patrimony and cultural activities at the Cantonal and University Library of Fribourg. Mr. Schmutz died after a long illness, which he endured with great courage. He was prominent person on the cultural scene in Fribourg for his vast knowledge of the cinema and its history, and initiated and led the series of Cinéplus, regularly projected film classics. Emmanuel was a member of the Foundation since 2007 where he participated in several projects and was particularly instrumental in the creation of the Armand Niquille Fonds, which he processed and managed for the BCU. He also contributed to the organization of the major exhibition in 2006 commemorating the tenth anniversary of the artist’s death. Emmanuel will be remembered as a man of talent, marked by a vivacious intelligence and great humanity.
